During a New York University study, researchers discovered that people who can pronounce names more easily generally have higher positions in the workplace. One psychologist, Adam Alter, explains to Wired, “When we can process a piece of information more easily, when it’s easier to comprehend, we come to like it more. In a European study, Researchers looked into German names and ranked within firms. Names who had last names like Kaiser (“emperor”) as well as Konig (“king”) held more positions as managers than those with names that referred to jobs that were common like Koch (“cook”) and Bauer (“farmer”).
This could be due to associative reasoning. The psychological theory describes the way that allows people to automatically connect feelings and their previous experiences with the same words or phrases.
